The Influence of Fiber Treatment and Matrix Type on the Impregnation Quality of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics

One of the main issues with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (CFRTP) is poor impregnation quality matrix on carbon fiber due to high viscosity thermoplastic. Impregnation can significantly affect mechanical properties composite. This study aims compare abilities various types thermoplastic matrices fiber. The used in this are HDPE, PC, and PET. Three variations treatment were employed: first variation involved immersion liquid nitrogen at -196°C, second included heating an electric furnace 600°C followed by rapid cooling nitrogen, third utilized a silane coupling agent. research findings demonstrate that composites comprising Polycarbonate reinforcement, treated agent, exhibit superior quality, as evidenced Interfacial Shear Strength (IFSS) value 9.34 MPa.. lowest was observed HDPE reinforced had been heated rapidly cooled, IFSS 5.52 MPa.
